My Own Tidbits of Becoming a Successful Direct Examiner / Company

When I first started as a direct examiner, all I had was a pocketful of agents that used me for years as a contracted paramedical examiner. In the last 6 months, ParaMedDirect has doubled in volume each month.

First things first, you have to go out there with an image that says that you are a professional examiner / company. The way you can go about doing that is;

  1. Get a professional website, don’t copy content from other websites, as this will bring down your score with Google, and organic web traffic is the best kind. Also be sure to link to your website from other locations, such as LinkedIn, etc.
  2. Get yourself some professional business cards made up, keep the look matching your website, or at least your logo, it’s all about branding.
  3. Join your local NAIFA chapter. Typically in the past only the big paramedical companies sent marketing representatives to the NAIFA meetings. Nothing is stopping you though from doing the same thing. Dress to impress and get to know everyone at the NAIFA meetings, go to all of the events, and you’ll even have events where you can set up a table, give a way a few things that broker / agents like to get them to come to your table, for example, golf balls, everyone loves golf-balls, especially broker / agents.
  4. Join LinkedIn, make a professional profile for yourself and your business. Search for the carrier agents in your area, and connect with them.
  5. Hit the streets, after you’ve connected with some broker / agents, go see them, bring them some fresh bakery goods and your presentation material, sometimes you’ll get lucky and there’ll be more than one agent in an office, so bring plenty of goodies.

That’s all for now, I’ll post more on this topic soon, thanks for reading.

ParaMedDirect’s Promise

blogportrait• We will never “No Call, No Show” your applicants
• We will always treat your applicants with the utmost respect
• We will always arrive at your applicant’s location dressed appropriately
• We will always speak courteously and respectfully to your applicants
• We will always be compassionate and gentle to your applicants
• We will always make every attempt to make your applicant’s exam experience a positive one
• We will always attempt, upon availability of applicant, to contact your applicant for scheduling within 12 hours of receiving the exam order
• We will always attempt to have the applicant scheduled within the first few days of receiving the exam order, upon applicant’s availability

The most common question I am asked is, basically, how do I go about having ParaMedDirect perform my applicant’s paramedical exams?

blogportraitIf you give your policy applicant’s information to one of the large corporate paramedical vendors, they will receive the exam order. I would be unable to do the exam directly for you. In order for me to be able to do your applicant’s paramedical examination, you must submit your exam order to ParaMedDirect. This will enable me to do your paramedical exam directly with your applicant. Once the exam is completed, it will then be processed through your preferred paramedical vendor, as I am approved through all vendors.

If it is your first time with ParaMedDirect, then all you need to do is give us a call either before you’re ready for your first exam order to be placed, or call us when you have your first exam order ready.

When you call us for the first time, we’ll put your information into our database, which will trigger an email being sent to you with your ParaMedDirect Login information, in which you can securely log into, to place new exam orders and/or check your applicant’s real-time statuses.

You can either enter your exam order online, through your ParaMedDirect Login, by clicking the link located at the top right of the page of https://parameddirect.com, labeled ‘ParaMedDirect Login’ or we can take your order over the phone, alternately, if you do not want to login, but would like to place exam orders online, then you can visit https://parameddirect.com and click the link in the top middle of the page, labeled ‘New Agent / Broker – Submit Order’

Once ParaMedDirect receives the exam order, attempted contact with the applicant is made within the same day of receiving the exam. Because of ParaMedDirect’s flexible hours, which include early mornings, late evenings, and Saturdays, either at the financial advisor, broker, or agent’s office, or the applicant’s work or home, most applicants upon contact are scheduled and completed within a few days.

Financial Advisors/Brokers/Agents that sell Life, Disability, and LTC Policies – A Little Tidbit of Information!

blogportraitFinancial Advisors / Brokers / Agents that sell Life, Disability and LTC Policies… A Little Tidbit of Information to make an even more positive experience for your applicant / client, who will be required to do a medical exam, in order to issue their policy.

When you’re selling a Life, Disability or LTC policy, and before you send your applicant / client’s information off to a corporate paramedical company, here are a few things you should consider…

You don’t know who is going to be calling and going to your applicant / client’s homes and/or places of work.

You do however have another option, a direct examiner.

What is a direct examiner?

A direct examiner is a senior paramedical examiner, often with 15 years or more of experience. They are selected by the large paramedical providers, as those with impeccable track records of quality and client satisfaction. In addition, the direct examiner understands the importance of the policy, not only for you, but for your applicant / client as well, if they are to be repeat applicants / clients, which is good for everyone.

The purpose of direct examiners is to provide brokers / agents and financial advisors with an alternative to managed scheduling, as well as allowing the broker / agent or financial advisor to have a professional relationship with a select direct examiner(s). This method ensures that brokers / agents and financial advisors that want to know who will be doing their applicant’s exams, will.

Direct examiners still bill and process through the large paramedical providers, thereby not changing the dynamics of the operation. For example, the electronic file image of the paramedical examinations, that the underwriters require, is uploaded and readied the exact same way, only faster. The billing is the same as well, there are no additional charges to the broker / agent or carrier. One of the most significant differences is having the ability to reach out to your applicant/client’s examiner. With this option it expedites the ordering and completion process of the carrier’s medical requirements for the policy being issued timely.

If you’re in the greater St. Louis Metropolitan area or surrounding counties, you may consider using ParaMedDirect. We are approved to process any required Life, Disability and LTC requirements for Apps/Portamedic, Exam One and EMSI.

Why use ParaMedDirect?

ParaMedDirect, LLC is a locally owned, small business, capable of providing a more personalized, one-on-one service, to you and your applicants. Providing paramedical exams since 1995. Member NAIFA – St. Louis

No scheduling center issues or automated calls, you and/or your applicant (s) / client (s) will receive immediate scheduling. I, or my assistant, make and take all calls regarding orders and scheduling appointments. Most applicant / clients are contacted within the first 12 hours, many scheduled within the first few days.

Increased availability for applicant / client’s busy schedules. Offering early mornings, day times, late nights, and Saturdays, at the broker / agent’s office, the applicant’s home, or place of work.

Higher quality paramedical exams. Direct examiners make higher commission than contracted examiners. The exams that are done, are done by a business owner with vested interest in providing a professional and timely application process each and every time.

Peace of mind. The agents know that if they ever have any questions, that I or my assistant will be able to help them, in a timely manner, often immediately.

Brokers / Agents receive real-time email status alerts, notifying them of when their applicants / clients are scheduled and completed.

Applicant’s / client’s completed exam paperwork is uploaded to your preferred HIPAA Compliant Vendor Site, typically within 12 hours of completion of the exam; Portamedic, Exam One, or EMSI, for viewing by the respective underwriting departments.
